Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
(Romans 12:1)

Welcome & Call to Worship

Like the sun that warms and energises our world
Like the water that refreshes and teems within your creation
And like the soil and love from, which we are made
Your presence sustains and undergirds all that is.

Move our hearts.
Move our hands and feet.
Move us to be the people needed,
in this time, in this place.
Holy One, in this time of worship reveal your presence.
Move our hearts and our souls.

Let us worship God!

Hymn: Praise to the Lord, the almighty, the king of creation!

  1. Praise to the Lord, the almighty, the king of creation!
    Praise God my soul for in him are your health and salvation!
    Come, all who hear; into his presence draw near,
    praise him in glad adoration!

  2. Praise to the Lord, above all things is wondrously reigning;
    shields you from harm and is gently yet firmly sustaining.
    Have you not seen how your hearts wishes have been,
    met by God’s wise ordaining?

  3. Praise to the Lord, who with blessing and power will defend you;
    surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you;
    Ponder anew what the almighty can do:
    God will for ever befriend you.

  4. Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
    All that has life and breadth, come now with praises before him!
    Let the Amen sound from God’s people again:
    Gladly for ever adore him.

Prayers of Approach & Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Amen

Bible Readings

Psalm 100 A psalm for giving grateful praise.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
    Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations,
   his faithfulness continues through all generations.

 Romans 12:1-8

A Living Sacrifice
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Humble Service in the Body of Christ
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Sermon: ‘Gratitude!’

Doxology (Hymn 807)

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host:
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayers of Dedication and Intercession

Hymn 180: Give thanks with a grateful heart

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, I am strong
Let the poor say, I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us
And now let the weak say, I am strong
Let the poor say, I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks

Dismissal & Blessing

My friends in Christ, this service has come to an end.
As you journey into the week ahead

May the Lord shower his blessings and favour upon you.
Amen

May the Lord give you a glimpse of the kingdom
a foretaste, a hint, a promise.
Amen

May the Lord of salvation guide you all your days
until you come into the joys of his eternal kingdom.
Amen

Go now in peace.
May the blessing of God,
the Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit
Be with you all forever more.
Amen
