Welcome

Welcome to Cruden Parish Church. We are a congregation of the Church of Scotland serving the communities of Cruden Bay, Whinnyfold (Finnyfa), Hatton, Longhaven, and the many scattered farms, cottages, and dwellings in this beautiful part of north-east Aberdeenshire. Whether you are joining us in the church or online via Facebook you are welcome! We pray you will be blessed and enriched by our words and worship. More details about the church can be found on our Website (crudenchurch.org.uk) and Facebook Page.

(Rev Sean Swindells, Parish Minister)

Call to Worship

God of the open road,
God of the twisting path,
God of the narrow and upward way,
your people are gathered for worship!
In this place and time, give us provision for the journey,
courage and faith and compassion,
and endurance to face any hardship.
Open our eyes to see you walking beside us,
protecting us, encouraging us, loving us.
Let us worship God

Hymn

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed,

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
I hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
sent him to die – I scarce can take it in
that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
he bled and died to take away my sin:

When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"

Prayer of Approach to God

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
you will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Amen

BIble Reading Pslam 62

For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
    my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
How long will you assault me?
    Would all of you throw me down—
    this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
Surely they intend to topple me
    from my lofty place;
    they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
    but in their hearts they curse.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
    my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honour depend on God;
    he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
    pour out your hearts to him,
    for God is our refuge.
Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
    the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
    together they are only a breath.
Do not trust in extortion
    or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
    do not set your heart on them.
One thing God has spoken,
    two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
    and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
    according to what they have done.”

Hymn The Spirit lives to set us free
The Spirit Lives To Set Us Free,
Walk, Walk In The Light.
He Binds Us All In Unity,
Walk, Walk In The Light.
Walk-In The Light,
Walk-In The Light,
Walk-In The Light,
Walk-In The Light Of The Lord.

Jesus Promised Life To All,
Walk, Walk In The Light.
The Dead Were Wakened By His Call,
Walk, Walk In The Light.

He Died In Pain On Calvary,
Walk, Walk In The Light.
To Save The Lost Like You And Me,
Walk, Walk In The Light.

Blessing

Now we take our worship out into the world

May the God of love fill Your heart with peace
and send You into the world to live it.
And the blessing of God Almighty,
our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer,
be with You and those You love,
this day and always.  Amen
